External users often require <strong>different licensing terms<\/strong> compared to internal users. On October 1, 2024, the <strong>official definition changes<\/strong> in the <strong>Product Terms<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Definition Change<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The definition of &#8220;External Users&#8221; changes:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Current Definition: &#8220;External Users&#8221; are users that are not employees, onsite contractors, or onsite agents of Customer or its Affiliates.<\/li>\n<li><strong>New Definition<\/strong>: &#8220;External Users&#8221; are users that are <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>not<\/strong><\/span>:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Employees<\/strong> of <strong>Customer<\/strong> or its <strong>Affiliates<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Contractors <\/strong>or<strong> agents <\/strong>that typically<strong> work for Customer <\/strong>or its<strong> Affiliates <\/strong>for<strong> more than 30 hours on average per week.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Contractors <\/strong>or<strong> agents <\/strong>that typically<strong> work onsite for Customer <\/strong>or its<strong> Affiliates <\/strong>on<strong> each working day.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Does this concern my Microsoft contract?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The new definition will only apply to customers who <strong>sign<\/strong> an <strong>enrollment or agreement<\/strong> <strong>on or after October 1, 2024<\/strong>. <strong>Current agreements <\/strong>remain<strong> unaffected<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Why this change in definition?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As hybrid and remote work become more common, the updated definition better aligns with current work practices. It acknowledges that <strong>many contractors and agents may not work onsite<\/strong> or <strong>may work fewer hours<\/strong>.
